Eggshell Skull by Bri Lee

Eggshell Skull is a memoir by young Bri Lee (you inspire me to get my ass moving and get my book published), as she retells her time spent as a Judge’s associate, and how seeing so many victims not get the justice they deserve, brought up dark moments of Bri’s own past. She provides a harrowing insight into the flawed criminal justice system in Queensland (and I can only assume wider Australia) when it comes to sex offenders.

I’m still floored to learn how prevalent sexual abuse is in Australia, and how sadly, very little justice is served. Having lived in Papua New Guinea, where the sexual/domestic violence rates are over 50%, I have almost become immune to this disgusting behaviour, often feeling helpless in trying to find a way to fix a very broken system. But I expected more of Australia, a lot more, and Bri has opened my eyes to the systemic problems that are taking place in my adopted country.

There need to be more stories like this told, and more done to put a stop to violence against women, both in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Thank you Bri for being so brave, and taking the first steps in creating a better world for women.
