This book is a real gem … maybe I’m biased as Sarah and I are old writing friends and she was kind enough to review A Dangerous Land for me in 2023. We took a course together in 2017 and from the instant she submitted her work, the whole group knew she had a natural ability. Her uncanny wit and ability to weave humour into her writing is what makes her, and The Remarkable Truths of Alfie Bains so special. Alfie is a young boy who truly is remarkable, and on his quest to find the truth about his father, we meet a whole cast of characters whose histories are intertwined. Sarah is stellar at interweaving multiple POVs, and gives them all their own unique voices. Set amongst the lush landscapes of Tasmania (Sarah is originally from there), this is a fun read for anyone that is a fan of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. Highly recommend.
